Before I introduce our Christopher Columbus coloring pages, may I just say that I can’t believe how this summer has flown by! It’s July…(gulp.)
If you are anything like me, you may be balancing moments of rest with preparing busily for the upcoming school year. This year, we are studying U.S. History, and I am HERE FOR IT! I love studying the history of the United States and have spent the past several years gathering tons of books and resources about it. I was born for this. Haha.
On that slightly over-caffeinated note, get ready for a thrilling adventure as we dive into the incredible story of Christopher Columbus, the intrepid explorer who set sail and discovered the New World!
Below, we provide you with some awesome hand-drawn coloring pages depicting key moments from Columbus’s journey and also recommend some fantastic books that will keep little ones hooked on the topic. So, let’s jump right in!
The Epic Tale of Christopher Columbus
Let’s transport ourselves back to the 15th century, a time when the world was ripe with exploration and adventure. Our hero, Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer with an insatiable thirst for discovery, set out on a daring voyage across the vast Atlantic Ocean. Born in Genoa, Italy, Columbus dreamed of reaching the East Indies by sailing westward. With unwavering determination, he sought support from the Spanish monarchy to turn his dream into a reality.
Of course, we all know how the story goes! Instead of finding a trade route to the East by sailing west, he ran smack dab into an unknown-to-him continent. The story of Columbus has so many interesting twists and turns: some regard him as a hero and some as a villain…but he is definitely part of the history of our nation and is fascinating to study!
