When I was young, you could often find me in our sweltering farmhouse kitchen, whipping up a delicious dessert from one of mama’s 1950s cookbooks. I loved the whole process, from start to finish, even though we didn’t have air-conditioning in our house back then–ha! I still adore baking, and I love making cupcakes! Cupcakes come in an endless number of delicious varieties, and there is always a new flavor to taste! Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry–my mouth is watering as I write this! One of my all-time favorite flavors is strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. So yummy, especially in the summertime! I’m not sure about a cherry cupcake, though–that doesn’t sound as appealing, ha! In the fall, I start craving that amazing spice cake flavor, so it is carrot or pumpkin cupcake time!
Like real-life cupcakes, these coloring pages of cupcakes also come in many different “flavors!” I designed a variety of coloring pages so that you can create coloring pages with different colors and decorations.
These pages feature a variety of cupcake designs, including some with fun sprinkles and toppings. The strawberry cupcake coloring pages are my absolute favorite, by the way! They are so adorable!
Cupcake coloring pages: a “recipe” for a delightful time with your family!
Cupcakes have always been one of my FAVORITE things to bake.. I love decorating these little cakes with pretty frosting, colorful sprinkles, flowers, and fruits. If you’re looking for a family baking project, I highly recommend mixing a yummy batch of cupcakes, stirring up some creamy icing and spending the afternoon frosting yummy cupcakes with your children! It’s so satisfying to see each finished cupcake treat sitting on the baking rack splendidly frosted.
Well, the same goes for cupcake coloring pages! These dessert coloring pages for kids and adults are a wonderful way to spend family time together. They are sooo much fun to decorate, and it is exciting to fill in these coloring pages of cupcakes with your favorite “flavors!”
Coloring pages are always a blast, but with an audiobook, they’re even better!
I have a confession: we are bonkers about audiobooks in our family. We used to live in a giant city and spent A LOT of time in the car. It took forever to drive anywhere! We got into the habit of listening to the Bible and to audiobooks while we drove..and we fell IN LOVE with audiobooks. Now, great books are woven constantly into the fabric of our lives.
Here’s a great “recipe” for adding another layer of fun to your time with your kiddos! Find an age-appropriate (and highly-entertaining) audiobook and listen while you spend time working on these cupcake coloring pages with your children!
It is SUCH a bonding experience to read (or listen to, in this case) books with your kids. It is always so fun to talk about the story afterwards! If you need any ideas, I have TONS that I love, and I will link to a few in the supply list below. I am somewhat of a connoisseur, ha!

As I was thinking of ideas to make this project extra-special, a thought popped into my imagination: it would be so fun to glue paper confetti to the completed cupcake coloring pages to represent sprinkles!

These coloring pages are perfect for a celebration, as well! A baking-themed party with friends would be super-fun…you could serve cupcakes and these delicious cupcake coloring pages would make a fun activity for your get-together. They do truly look good enough to “eat!”

If you’re planning on using these free printable coloring pages, there are a few supplies that you’ll need to get started.
- First, you’ll need some colored pencils or crayons. If you are interested in colored pencils, these have been my favorite since college. I truly love how well they blend. You may also want to try out these glitter colors!
- Second, you’ll need a printer. I use this one!
- And third, you’ll need some paper for the printer! The paper you use makes a huge difference! Trust me on this. Years ago, I began using this Hammermill 32 lb paper and I have loved it ever since! It is thick and wonderful! It is easy to write on and holds up really well if you plan to print coloring books or binders.
- Glue this paper confetti on the coloring cupcakes to look like sprinkles! These scented glue sticks will help you keep the glue from being too messy!
Audiobooks we LOVE
- The Little House on the Prairie series narrated by Cherry Jones (start with this one…it is so cozy!)
- James Herriot’s Treasury for Children narrated by the beloved Jim Dale.
- Classic Winnie-the-Pooh, narrated by the wonderful Peter Dennis is a perfectly delightful story to color along with!
