I just returned home from a trip to England and Scotland..(I know, I know…IRONIC, since we are studying the American Revolution this year, haha! 🤣) More on the trip later, but for now….enjoy these George Washington coloring pages! I hope they add a bit of delight to your history study. 🇺🇸
But First…A Booklist to Pair with These George Washington Coloring Pages!
George Washington: First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen!
George Washington is an iconic figure in American history, known for his unwavering dedication, selflessness, and love for his country. From a young age, he displayed remarkable leadership qualities, playing a pivotal role in the French and Indian War and leading the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.
As the first President of the United States, he set precedents that shaped the office for generations to come. Washington’s personal qualities, such as his deep sense of honor and integrity, endeared him to the American people. His legacy continues to inspire generations, reminding us of the importance of service, sacrifice, and patriotism!
Majestic Federal Hall: Washington’s Inaugural Site
Federal Hall was a remarkable building located in New York City that played a crucial role in American history. This grand structure served as the first US Capitol, and it was right here that George Washington took his oath of office to become the first President of the United States!
Federal Hall was also the birthplace of the Bill of Rights! The first Supreme Court session and the first Congress were held here, establishing the foundations of American democracy as we know it today. Although the original Federal Hall was demolished in 1812, the Federal Hall National Memorial now stands on the same site as a symbol of our Founding Fathers’ everlasting legacy.
Lovely Mount Vernon: Washington’s Beloved Home
Oh, I just love Mount Vernon! It’s one of my absolute favorite places in the whole United States! This stunning estate nestled along the serene banks of the Potomac River was the beloved home of none other than George Washington, the first President of the United States!
You know what’s even more fascinating about Mount Vernon? George Washington was quite the farmer! He was always experimenting with new techniques to improve agricultural practices, and he even used crop rotation, composting, and manure to help enrich the soil. Can you believe it?
Washington loved his home and spent many happy years there with his dear wife Martha, but he also had to leave for LONG periods of time in service of his country. During the Revolutionary War and his presidency, he was away from Mount Vernon for years at a time. You can just imagine how much he missed his home during those long years!

According to my family’s lore, George Washington saved my fifth great-grandfather’s life! It’s said that he called him out from the path of cannonball fire (perhaps during the Battle of Monmouth) while he was serving in the Virginia regiments under General Washington’s command. Although the details are a bit hazy, the thought of it is just so cool!
